Plot Summary / Sinopsis
Hector’s brother Greg returns from Thailand feeling
unwell and lays down to sleep in the guest room. When Hector
and his wife return home, the room is infested with flies.
But Greg seems to have disappeared. Every year, on the same
inexorable date, for ten days, Hector’s family will have
to face Greg’s horrific transformation, and learn to
live with their unexplainable secret. Until one day, the pattern
is broken… Brother of Flies is a fascinating combination
of a classic horror motif, with a contemporary examination
of family as a space where secrets are kept. This project is
a large scale production to be shot entirely in English with
an international cast.
Grego, el hermano de Héctor, regresa
de Tailandia visiblemente enfermo. Se echa a dormir en el cuarto
de invitados, y cuando Héctor y su mujer regresan a
casa, encuentran la habitación
infestada de moscas. Grego parece haber desaparecido. Cada
año, inexorablemente, al llegar la fecha y durante diez
días, la familia de Héctor tendrá que
enfrentarse a la terrorífica transformación de
Grego, y aprender a vivir con un secreto inexplicable. Hasta
que un día se rompe la pauta… El Hermano de las
Moscas es la fascinante combinación de un motivo del
género de terror más clásico con una exploración
contemporánea de la familia como espacio para el secreto.
Este proyecto se plantea como una producción de gran
alcance para ser rodada íntegramente en inglés
con un reparto internacional.

“THE TUKUI DEFEATED TO THE STORM”
For Tukuy, a young boy living in the Pemona community in the rain forest of Canaima
National Park, Venezuela, nothing is more fun than imitating the songs of the
birds around him: he is not aware that he has an amazing gift. When Raquel, a
teacher of Spanish origin undertaking a literacy campaign in the area, begins
her classes, she discovers that not only Tukuy but also most children of this
ethnic minority, have an almost magical musical ability. The children form a
choir and after that an orchestra, giving concerts all around the planet. This
is how they take the legend of “Mawari Piapanitol Taremuru”, in which
birdsong defeats the storm with no more than the power of beauty, further than
the great Savannah.

Para Tukuy, un pequeño que vive en la comunidad pemona
que hay en la selva del Parque Nacional de Canaima, en Venezuela,
lo más divertido del mundo es imitar el canto de lo
pájaros de su entorno, sin darse cuenta que tiene un
don maravilloso. Cuando Raquel, una maestra de orígenes
españoles que comienza una campaña de alfabetización
en la zona, inicia sus clases, descubre que no sólo
Tukuy, sino gran parte de los niños de esta etnia, tiene
una habilidad casi mágica para interpretar la música.
Los niños forman un coro y más tarde una orquesta,
ofreciendo conciertos en los lugares más diversos del
planeta. De esta forma consiguen llevar la leyenda del “Mawari
Piapanitok Taremuru”, más allá de la Gran
Sabana, en la que el canto de los pájaros le gana a
la tormenta, sólo con la fuerza de la belleza. |

Plot Summary / Sinopsis
“I always said I was the most orphaned orphan of all orphans.
After all, my parents are alive and I’m here”. This
is Sumi’s summary of her situation when she is with her
peers. After being abandoned on a train, this girl ends up in
a home for orphaned and abandoned children in Basundhara, Orissa,
in the North of India. Sumi finds girls with different histories
there, but also girls whose stories are similar to her own. Lives
which start to crisscross. Girls who share the same hope of growing
older in better conditions to those of their childhoods. Through
the education they receive from the home coordinators, they try
to twist their destiny around. What they have to live with, and
what they finally find, doesn’t always correspond to what
they dreamed with.
“Siempre dije que era la huérfana más huérfana
de todas las huérfanas. Al fin y al cabo, mis padres están
vivos y yo estoy aquí”. Así resume Sumi su
situación cuando está con sus compañeras.
Esta joven, tras ser abandonada en un tren, terminó en
un centro de menores huérfanos y abandonados, en Basundhara,
Orissa, en el norte de la India. Allí Sumi encontró chicas
con historias distintas, pero al mismo tiempo similares a la
suya. Vidas que se van entremezclando. Chicas que comparten la
esperanza de madurar en mejores condiciones de las que tuvieron
durante la niñez. A través de la educación
aportada por las coordinadoras del centro, intentan darle un
giro al destino. Sin embargo, no siempre lo que les rodea y lo
que finalmente encuentran se parece a lo que ellas soñaban. |
